Powder Springs resident, Steve Thrasher says, "I have been interested in playing music in one form or another for as long as I can remember" so, it came as no surprise to friends and family when several years ago, he announced that he was going to learn to play the bagpipes. Born and raised in the metro Atlanta area, and a professional drummer by trade, Steve has been making music for over three decades. His resume includes tours of the United States and performing during the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta as well as the lucrative corporate and private entertainment business here in the southeast.
Although drumming professionally has been his "bread and butter" for most of his adult life, he has always enjoyed exploring new instruments and different types of music. Even with his busy schedule in his primary occupation, somehow he has had the time to add "bagpipes" to the already impressive list of instruments that he plays, which also includes guitar, bass, piano, and banjo! Though his interest in the bagpipes originally started out as a hobby, his proficiency quickly grew, and he soon learned that he had a natural affinity for the quirky instrument. So much so that, after several years of studying the bagpipes subtle intricacies, plenty of practice and amassing a hefty repertoire of over one hundred songs, he felt that he was prepared to play professionally.
Through the recommendations of previous clients, he now finds himself performing in a wide range of events including everything from wedding ceremonies and parties to funerals, memorial services and graduation ceremonies.
